Life is a journey

Unawatuna

Unawatuna

“Go to Unawatuna!”, was the advice I got from people I had talked to about our trip that had been to Sri Lanka themselves. “It is so beautiful there!”. We almost took their word for it, but luckily, we did a little more research before booking our accommodation.

With that said, the ones claiming this, had been there a few years ago. I really do believe it must have been beautiful back then, but getting there, we were absolutely convinces that we had made the right decision staying in Galle instead. What probably used to be an authentic small town by the beach was now turned into a beach strip you can find anywhere else, with tacky beach bars/restaurants and multicolored umbrellas spread all over.

Going there for a day like we did is ok, but I would absolutely not stay there for many days to enjoy the beach life. It will simply not be as enjoyable as you hope.

The beach actually look much more charming on my photos than in real life.
