The election votes are now counted, and after a pretty close call, it is now clear that Maithripala Sirisena will be the new president of Sri Lanka, after Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The former and the new preident, popular refered to as MR and MS, have been talking on the phone, and MR has already left the president house. According to the news, MR has admitted defeat, and urged for a smooth transition of power. The plan is for MS to be sworn in as new president this evening.
It was notified that it might be a curfew starting today to prevent acts of violence, but everything seem calm and quiet. Let’s just hope it stays that way.
