Instead of going back the same way you came from, you can go by cable car to Kriens. First you go by big gondolas, before you change to smaller ones to get all the way down to Kriens. In total the journey takes 40 minutes. From the lower station it is about 5-10 min walk down to the main road, and the bus back to Lucerne. The bus ride is 15 minutes.
